He has over 8 years of experience treating neurological disorders and issues, including Autism, strokes, cognitive impairments, swallowing/feeding disorders and ADD/ADHD. Ian is also trained in the use of PECS, PROMPT, and ABA methodologies. Ian was recognized by the NH DOE as an integral part of the success of the Jolicoeur Schools in Manchester, NH. He also provides workshops and training in the use of research-based techniques to facilitate language learning in the school setting and written expression.

Community-Based Communication

Using a variety of Augmentative and Alternative Communication  (AAC) devices, individuals in our speech and language groups have the ability to apply what they are learning in community settings. We are always looking for unique opportunities for our speech and language groups.

Our Visit to Parlee Farms

Choice Boards offer non-verbal individuals a way to make decisions about what they want to do. To prepare for a visit a local farm, a choice board menu was created to introduce images of what one would see there. Time was spent teaching the individuals what the images were and explaining what they could expect during their visit.

Once at the farm, the individual independently chooses what and when they wanted to see and experience by pointing to an image on their menu. With a designated  Direct Support Professional, they were able to enjoy the farm the way they wanted to.
